Frequently asked questions for

CONCIERGE weight loss PROGRAM

  • Semaglutide (active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy) and tirzepatide (active ingredient in Mounjaro and Zepbound) are in a class of medications called glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) agonists. This mimics the incretin hormone GLP-1 found naturally in our bodies. GLP-1 agonists work by stimulating your pancreas to increase insulin, slows gastric emptying, and sends signals to your brain telling you that you are full. This process makes these medications a powerful appetite suppressant

  • Tirzepatide is unique because it is the first dual action drug in its class. It acts as a GLP-1 agonist (as stated above) and a glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor agonist. GLP-1 and GIP are both incretin hormones that are released after eating. Tirzepatide works by mimicking their effects including telling the pancreas to release insulin after eating and signaling the liver to lower the amount of glucose it is making which helps lower blood sugar.

Tirzepatide also has a lower incidence of certain known side effects, including nausea. It is currently the MOST effective weight loss medication available.
